Bath time

A few pictures of Andrew after his morning bath. He loves to feel clean! He sits contently in the comfort bather and then we wrap him up for warmth in the hooded towel.

The Cousins meet

Andrew James is growing like a weed in his first month. He is out of the newborn onesies and onto 0-3 month old clothes. It is really crazy how big he has become...and it is just beginning. He is the highlight of our day, and we are so fortunate that he is healthy. We have had a busy month with lots of visitors, Phil working and coaching, leaving Becky at home most days alone with Andrew. The weekends go by extremely fast, and we try to get as much done as we can. We are planning a nice walk in the park later this afternoon. We had James, Becky's brother, and his kids in town this past week, so Andrew was able to meet his cousins Matthew and Lauren and of course his uncle James. The time they spent together was very special and I know that Matthew and Lauren are excited to teach Andrew James the tricks of the trade.

Grandma and Grandpa Shew visit

Grandma and Grandpa Shew (weird to write that mom and dad), came to visit us. Here are some pix from the visit. The last picture (the one in the stripes) is Andrew's first Easter, which he did absolutely fantastic. He was a little squirmy, but fairly quiet throughout the entire service.

Andrew has a few places to hang out and relax. Here he is in his car seat, his travel swing and his boppy. He is a mellow baby as long as he's warm and cozy.

Finally Home

So after almost a week in the luxurious confines of SkyRidge Medical Center, Becky, Andrew and i made it home. It feels so great to be home. Now the fun begins since there isn't an official nursery where the baby can be for a little mommy and daddy nap. So far everything is going well. We will keep you posted. Here are a few pictures before leaving, and a couple with some new visitors and friends. Brian, Jamie and Hudson Harris stopped by, and then Doc, Jess, Sofia and Kate Weidknecht did as well.

Andrew's first visitors

Becky and I want to thank everyone for your support and wonderful thoughts...and of course the food and clothes for Andrew. All is going well so far. We are supposed to be heading home tomorrow, just in time to watch the Jayhawks play. Just wanted to share some of the pictures from our visitors.

Andrew James is here :)

On March 23rd, 2009 at 11:53 Andrew James arrived. After an exhausting day, Becky and I are parents.
We checked into the hospital the night before after going to 730 South for dinner. Once we got here, Becky was given something to open her cervix and then we went to bed. At 6 am she was put on Pitocin (sp) and then the waiting game began. It was a long day with Becky having some contractions here and there. As the time got closer, the contractions started to become more painful. Becky started pushing as hard as she could, Dr. Lamb resorted to using a suction cup to help assist getting the little guy out. When all other options had failed, we had to go in and get a C-section. Becky was completely spent and Andrew was kind of wide awake. Here is a video of Andrew being welcomed into the world.
